The government platform, launched with Airbnb, lists the housing available to healthcare staff. 5,000 people have therefore made their accommodation available. Another platform of the same type was launched in partnership with the PAP site. The Minister counts 1,200 offers at this stage. These accommodations are free for caregivers. In addition, Airbnb compensates the “hosts”, those who lend their accommodation, by reimbursing them for the cleaning costs.
These are above all “individual” who have made their accommodation available. But for Julien Denormandie, this movement of solidarity must be amplified: “I appeal to all owners of vacant housing, especially when they are located near hospitals. Whether they make them available, via this Airbnb platform or via the PAP platform.” In addition, this initiative has been emulated since, according to Julien Denormandie “dozens of countries” launched the same platform with Airbnb.
The Minister also wished to salute the work of the caregivers: “I would like to thank all those people who are at the front, because it is a total commitment. I want to tell them that the government is there to help them, including when it comes to helping them find housing. C is the meaning of this initiative. “
The Minister responsible for the City and Housing also specifies that the government “works a lot with hotels and has requisitioned thousands of rooms, sometimes for nursing staff but also for those in precariousness”.
