Sybel specializes in series and documentaries, like Hail, told by journalist Patricia Tourancheau, the true story of a French serial killer that the police could never arrest. But the platform is also aimed at young audiences: “30% of our stories are consumed by children”, explains on Franceinfo the president-founder Virginie Maire, who believes that “it's a great alternative to screens”.
On Sybel, 20% of the catalog is made up of original creations, the rest is bought from production companies. If listening to the podcast is still marginal in France, it continues to progress: “There is a lot of use in the car and in the evening before going to bed. We have big peaks from 10 pm”, says Virginie Maire. For the moment, the platform is open access, but it will become chargeable during the first half of 2020. The subscription price is not yet specified.
