A software allows to review millions of data left by the French on the web. This is “data mining”, and it is very much regulated by law. Only tax officials and customs officials have the right to go to the social networks of the French, on their Facebook or Instagram profiles, to go to trade platforms between individuals such as leboncoin, eBay or Airbnb.
Agents only have access to content made public on the web, not private conversations or facial recognition. The law specifies that this collected data cannot be used by subcontractors, that it cannot be stored and that it must be destroyed within five days if there is no suspicion of tax fraud.
