Do French business leaders who pay their taxes abroad go to checkout? It is the will of the majority to finance the new measures announced. Today, a business owner who decides to live abroad, as in Switzerland for example, pays income tax in his main residence and not in France. The government wants to stop it. The measure is difficult to put in place because the negotiated tax treaties signed with each country would have to be renegotiated.
Another proposal is to charge companies that do tax optimization abroad, such as digital giants Facebook, Amazon, Apple or Google. The CAC 40 companies are also in the viewfinder. According to Oxfam, they owned 1,454 subsidiaries in tax havens in 2016. An offensive against tax optimization is therefore chosen by the government while it has renounced to restore the ISF.
