A plane filled with packages landed at Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport (Rhône). A few days before Christmas, it's time for a fight in a DHL warehouse near Lyon. Over 40,000 packages need to be sorted and scanned. “On December 2, the record of 42,000 packages processed was reached”, says Geoffroy Junior, branch manager at DHL.
Same excitement near Nantes in a La Poste warehouse located in Carquefou (Loire-Atlantique). 35,000 packages arrive every day. Due to the strike against the pension reform, traditional businesses suffer from a lack of attendance. But online shopping is not weakening. The holiday season should represent 20 billion euros in turnover. To cope with this peak in activity, 60 people were hired.
